HEC Seeks CEC legal Opinion over Degree Verification of 189 ex-lawmakers

The Higher Education Commission has sought legal opinion of Chief Election Commissioner regarding degrees of former parliamentarians, Geo News reported Friday.

HEC chairman Javed Leghari, in a letter written to Fakhruddin G. Ibaheem, said that the HEC had been in constant touch with the ECP over the issue of degrees verification.

He said the HEC had declared degrees of 54 lawmakers fake while the 189 former lawmakers had yet to provide their degrees despite the lapse of 2 and half-year time,

Leghari said that the HEC had been waiting for CEC directives regarding the verification of degrees of the ex-lawmakers.
